WRITING CLASSES

An opportunity to write and perform your own work.
Copywrite remains the property of the author, however, the Festival reserve the right to use entrant’s work in their publicity materials.
Details of age limits A to H, marking criteria and closing dates are given in the rules

 

PWS POETRY WRITING CLASS (SOLO FEE APPLIES) 
         Award: The Lockett Cup 
         To write and perform a piece of poetry written by the candidate. 
         This should be unpublished work. 
         Candidates may arrange for their work to be performed by another person but only one prize will be awarded. 
         Entries are invited in all age groups. Performance time of the poem should not exceed 3 minutes. 
         A copy of the poem must be given into the committee at least one week prior to the class - receipts will be issued. 
  
 W4R WRITE FOR RADIO CLASS (SOLO FEE APPLIES) 
         Award: Book Token 
         To write a short script suitable for broadcast on radio. 
         This should be previously unpublished/broadcast work. 
         A legible copy of the script must be submitted with the entry form and fee by the Festival closing date. 
         A panel will select finalists in each age group who will be asked to perform an extract from their script at the Festival.  
         Maximum four minutes performance time. 
         Candidates may arrange for their work to be read by another person or by a group but only one prize will be awarded 
  
SSW SHORT STORY WRITING CLASS (SOLO FEE APPLIES)
         Award: Book Token
         To write a story not exceeding 1000 words. 
         This should be previously unpublished work. 
         A legible copy of the short story must be submitted with the entry form and fee by the Festival closing date. 
         A panel will select finalists in each age group who will be asked to read aloud an extract from their story at the Festival,  
         Maximum four minutes performance time. 
        Candidates may arrange for their work to be read by another person but only one prize will be awarded
